This antique Royal Kuba belt was handcrafted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to be worn by those with royal blood. It was made to be placed on the waist or forehead and tied in back.

It was crafted starting with a base of tightly woven raffia with cowrie shells and beads intricately woven onto the base in traditional patterns and designs. The colors of green, white, red and black beads are sewn in place along with the cowrie shells.

This Kuba belt can be worn as a headdress that is tied with the raffia extensions.
